The teaching and miracles of Jesus proclaim that His Kingdom is here, and is coming. He heals our diseases, restores our relationships, forgives our sins, calms our fears, fills our hunger, and yes – even offers the hope of resurrection and new life! Jesus is reconciling all things on heaven and earth, both now and to come. And we, His followers, are to declare and demonstrate that He is making all things new.
Because of this calling, Faith & Finances has been developed by The Chalmers Center to provide local churches and ministries with a tool for equipping vulnerable individuals and families in their community with a biblical vision for how the comprehensive healing of Jesus encompasses finances. Through this program we can transfer basic technical financial management skills to people; build awareness among vulnerable families of financial practices and systems; and teach them how to overcome real world pitfalls on the path to financial health. It also encourages vulnerable people, showing them that they are known and loved by God, and that He can provide peace, healing, and freedom in their relationship with Him, with others, with themselves, and with their money.
Faith & Finances is a series of twelve sessions on financial literacy for low-income and financially vulnerable adults. Each 90-minute session is designed to meet the learning needs of those who struggle to manage their money. Through group discussions, participants gain important information and skills relevant to their everyday lives.
The Faith & Finances course begins with laying a foundation for good financial literacy; encourages participants to plan ahead setting goals and making a spending plan; discusses the subjects of giving, thrift, debt, and risk; and finally encourages learners to protect their assets and consider their net worth.
The curriculum is designed for a maximum of twenty adults who are financially vulnerable with limited financial training. The typical participant has some level of personal debt, does not live within a budget, and has a low net financial worth.
Faith & Finances will be offered by 1Twenty2 Ministries from 6:30-8:30 PM at 604 E.
